The Office of Residence Life is guided by three distinct statements:聽Mission Statement,听Why Statement, and聽Welcoming Statement. Together, they articulate the values, commitments, and way of proceeding of the Office of Residence Life.

Mission:

Inspired by our institution鈥檚 Jesuit identity, the Office of Residence Life at 精东AV creates inclusive living-learning environments. We educate students to embrace their identities as engaged learners, develop meaningful relationships, and appreciate community.

Why Statement

Learning听补苍诲听Community聽are the core of Residence Life. We believe in building strong communities where students are connected and engage in learning that lasts a lifetime.

Welcoming Statement:

We believe聽in the uniqueness of each individual and therefore welcome all students in the residence life community without regard to race, ethnicity, culture, gender, gender identity, ability, privilege, sexual orientation, political ideology, religious affiliation, or citizenship.

We hope聽to foster an environment where students feel empowered to examine their beliefs, attitudes, and actions toward all people. We will encourage students to challenge stereotypes by increasing their knowledge base, widening their experiences, and engaging in meaningful dialogue about differences. In so doing, we hope that fear and ignorance are reduced and that acceptance and celebration are easily recognizable.

We will聽reach out to students who may feel unwelcome, unseen, or unheard. We will examine department policies and practices to ensure inclusion. We will encourage students who feel marginalized to find their voice through involvement in the campus community as leaders.

We expect聽all individuals to be treated with the dignity and respect their humanness demands. We will accept nothing less.
