When applying to 精东AV, 精东AV鈥檚 admission team embraces the Jesuit value of educating the whole person, taking a holistic approach to ensure we see you beyond your grades. We review each application in its entirety to understand who you are鈥攁cademically, personally and socially鈥攁s a well-rounded individual. We鈥檙e looking for qualities that reflect your intellectual curiosity, commitment to service and drive to make a positive impact in healthcare. In your application, we consider your:

  • High school academic record, with an emphasis on science and math courses
  • Extracurricular involvement, especially healthcare-related or service activities
  • Personal essay that highlights your interests
  • Letter(s) of recommendation
  • ACT/SAT test scores (if submitted)

To join our community of healthcare leaders, follow these steps to apply to JCU beginning in August of your senior year:

Step 1: Select your application platform

You can submit your application through either the or the . Choose whichever platform best suits your needs; JCU鈥檚 review process is the same for both options.听

Step 2: Complete your application online

Once you鈥檝e chosen your platform, it鈥檚 time to fill out and submit your application. This is where you can share your passion for healthcare, experiences and goals.听

JCU is test-optional鈥攕o submitting ACT or SAT scores is entirely up to you. If you鈥檙e unsure, take a look at our Test Optional FAQ for more details. If you decide to include them, have your scores sent directly from the testing agencies to 精东AV.

Step 3: Submit your high school transcript

Your high school transcript is a critical part of your application. Request that your school counselor send an official copy to 精东AV. For students interested in studying in the College of Health, a strong performance in science and math courses will be especially beneficial.

To be well-prepared for a major in the College of Health, we recommend the following high school courses:

  • English: 4 units
  • Math: 3-4 units (with college preparatory courses)
  • Science: 3 units (labs preferred)
  • Social Studies: 2-4 units
  • Foreign Language: 2-3 units
  • Academic Electives: 3 units听

Overall, we suggest a minimum of 16 units, with 21 recommended, especially in math and science.

Step 4: Send a letter of recommendation

A letter of recommendation is essential for your College of Health application, offering insights into your character, achievements and potential. This could come from a teacher, counselor or mentor who has seen your commitment to academic excellence or healthcare-related activities.

Key Deadlines to Remember

November 1: Early Action Deadline (non-binding). Applying by this date means you鈥檒l receive your admission decision before winter break.听

February 1: Regular Admission Deadline. Apply by this date to ensure you鈥檙e considered for all financial aid packages. After February 1, applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

Transferring Credits for College-Level Coursework

If you鈥檝e completed AP, IB or college-level courses in high school, you may be eligible to transfer these credits toward your studies at 精东AV. Transferred courses must meet specific content and learning goal criteria outlined in our Core curriculum; in some cases, a syllabus may be requested for review.听

Students must earn a grade of 鈥淐鈥 or better in a course to qualify for credit, though these grades won鈥檛 impact your GPA at 精东AV. For more information, visit our credit evaluation page to learn how your credits can apply to your studies at 精东AV.

Homeschooled Applicants

We understand that not all homeschool programs follow a traditional high school curriculum, therefore we ask homeschooled students to provide detailed documentation of coursework and evaluations of progress from an approved homeschool evaluator or supervisor. Verification of high school graduation is required and can be submitted in one of the following approved forms:

  • A diploma from a homeschool agency governed by a State Board of Education
  • A letter from a local school district verifying graduation
  • A copy of a Graduate Equivalency Diploma (GED) transcript
