精东AV has selected two speakers to deliver keynote addresses during the 2024 Commencement Exercises in May.

Dr. Donald A. Malone, Jr., President of the Cleveland Clinic Ohio Hospitals and Family Health Centers, will deliver the keynote address for the Graduate ceremony on Saturday, May 18, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.

Capricia Penavic Marshall, Partner at FGS Global, Founder of Global Engagement

Strategies, LLC, and former Chief of Protocol of the United States, will deliver the keynote address for the Undergraduate ceremony on Sunday, May 19, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.

About Dr. Donald A. Malone, Jr.听

Donald A. Malone, Jr., M.D., is President of the Cleveland Clinic Ohio Hospitals and Family Health Centers. In this role, he sits on the Executive Team and oversees the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus as well as all Ohio Regional Hospitals, Family Health Centers, and other ambulatory sites. Dr. Malone is a Professor of Psychiatry at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University.

Dr. Malone previously served as President of Cleveland Clinic Lutheran Hospital as well as Chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Psychology at Cleveland Clinic where he also directed the Center for Behavioral Health.


Dr. Malone graduated with his M.D. degree from The Northeastern Ohio University鈥檚 College of Medicine in 1985. There, he was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha. Following his medical school training, he did one year of internship in internal medicine followed by a psychiatric residency at The Massachusetts General Hospital.听

Since 1989, he has been at The Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Malone has been very active in research, education, and various local and national committees. He has held positions in The Ohio Psychiatric Association, The American Psychiatric Association, The International Society for Neurostimulation, and The American College of Psychiatrists. Currently he is on the Board of Trustees at the Ohio Hospital Association.听

His research has been primarily in the areas of anxiety disorders, anabolic steroid use and abuse, neuromodulation, and Deep Brain Stimulation. He has authored numerous publications in these areas and presented both nationally and internationally.

Capricia Marshall is a partner at FGS Global and president of Global Engagement Strategies, LLC, which advises international, public, and private clients on issues relating to the nexus of business and cultural diplomacy. Her clients include Bloomberg, 3M, and other Fortune 100 companies. As a first-generation American, she has brought an understanding of the importance of culture to her posts and consultations. She travels across the country speaking to organizations and corporations about her experiences, lessons she has learned throughout her career in public service, and how best to integrate cultural diplomacy into business. She recently also joined the firm FGS Global as a partner to offer international affairs and geopolitical risk consultation services.

Marshall is currently Ambassador-in-Residence at the Atlantic Council in Washington, DC. She recently launched her book Protocol, The Power of Diplomacy and How to Make it Work forYou. Sharing unvarnished examples from her time in office, she presents a master class in soft power and an accessible guide for anyone who wants to be empowered by the tools of diplomacy in work and everyday life.

Marshall served as White House social secretary in the Clinton Administration from 1997-2001 and United States chief of protocol in the Obama administration from 2009 to 2013. In her posts, she enhanced traditional protocol methods with new tools to build relationships between dignitaries and industry leaders world-wide. She oversaw the diplomatic details of multiple state visits, G20 and G8 convenings, presidential inaugurations and summits such as the Nuclear Security summit, APEC, NATO and Sunnylands summits.听

In 2013, she was awarded the Distinguished Service Award from the Secretary of State and the Order of the Cross of Isabel La Cat贸lica from the Ambassador of Spain. She is a member of the Council of American Ambassadors. She has been named to ELLE Magazine鈥檚 annual 鈥淲ashington Power List,鈥 as one of DC鈥檚 most influential women.听

Ms. Marshall currently serves on the boards of the Case Western University International Advisory Board, The Strategic Planning Board, The Blair House Restoration Fund, Women鈥檚 Foreign Policy Group and The Council of American Ambassadors. Marshall is a first-generation American of Croatian and Mexican descent. She is married to a 精东AV alumnus and has a son.
