In recognition of his steadfast support and commitment to his alma mater, Dave Robinson ’74 has been named the 62nd President of the AV Alumni Association.
As a recipient of the Alumni Medal in 2022 and the Alumni Volunteer Service Award in 1994, Robinson succeeds Lisa Zone '98, who found great success throughout her two-year term as President.
In addition to serving on the Alumni Association Board for seven years, Robinson has been a Class Columnist since 2009, and for over 35 years, he has hosted a picnic for incoming AV freshmen from the Detroit area.
“The friendships I made at AV as a student and relationships made with subsequent alumni from JCU are priceless,” said Robinson. “There is a culture at JCU that you are part of the family. And that family wants to see you be successful.”
In keeping with this desire to see others succeed, Robinson also serves on the Board of Governors for the Iota Chi Upsilon Alumni Scholarship Fund. This endowment benefits undergraduate students in good academic standing with a family connection to the fraternity.
Since retiring in 2020, Robinson and his wife, Molly Gibbons Robinson, a 2006 Alumni Medal recipient herself, continue to spend time volunteering at the Pope Francis Center in Detroit and with Hospice of Michigan.
“I am immensely proud and thankful for my AV education,” said Robinson. “I am grateful and cherish my life-long friends from JCU. The professors, staff, and fellow students at Carroll made me a better person. I remain committed to the mission of the university and the Jesuit tradition of women and men for others.”
